How do in-home newborn sessions differ from studio sessions?
Gorgeous portraits, authentic connections, and my signature stye is a given in any session you book with me. But how do in-home newborn sessions differ from studio sessions?
On the spot print consult
As convenient and instant as digitals are, there’s During an in-home session, since I’ll be in your home, I can see your space and provide guidance on how to display your photos right after your session. I can help you choose where to hang framed photos or where to display gallery boards or folios. We can have a discussion before we start the session so I can ensure to get the photos you’re envisioning for a specific spot in your home or I can suggest an image for that spot.
Families with multiple children
Although you can bring all your children to the studio, they may be more comfortable at home. For this reason, an in-home session can produce images of all your children in their “natural habitat”, for a lack of a better phrase. Younger kids may even be excited and want to show off their new baby brother or sister and be willing participants during the session. There’s also the advantage of not having to bundle up older siblings, get them in their carseats, and endure an endless round of “are we there yet”. This alone can spoil the mood of the kids and your significant other.
Personal touch
During an in-home session, I can photograph you and your family in parts of your home, allowing you to create a more personal touch to your photographs. For a newborn session, we can photograph baby in the nursery, on the change table or in the crib. We can photograph older siblings with their new baby in the family room or in your master bedroom. Just like people, our homes change over the years. This is a great way to not only capture the memory of your baby, but also of the place where you lived during that special time.
Fur babies
In my studio, I don’t allow pets. This is not because I don’t like pets, it’s to respect other clients who come to my studio. For the safety of all my clients, especially newborns where the parents may not know of any allergies yet and I really don’t want them finding out in a traumatic way during a session in my studio. So, if you do have fur babies and you want them in your photos with your newborn, an in-home session is perfect!
